Biden to visit Hurricane Helene areas

US President Joseph Biden says he plans to visit areas hit by Hurricane Helene in the coming days but does not want his visit to delay getting supplies to the affected areas. More than 110 people are known to have died and at least 600 people are still missing across multiple states. Biden spoke about the effects of the storm from the White House on Monday.

Ryan Routh pleads not guilty to attempting to assassinate Donald Trump

The man accused of plotting to kill former U.S president Donald Trump at his Florida golf course has pleaded not guilty to five counts including attempting to assassinate a major presidential candidate. Prosecutors allege Ryan Routh stalked Donald Trump before setting up what they called a "sniper's nest" at the edge of his golf course in west Palm Beach, Florida. Russia targets Kyiv in drone attack

Russia launched multiple waves of drones targeting Ukraine's capital on Monday morning. Air raid alerts lasted for over five hours as air defense units worked to intercept attacks.     Reuters further reports that all the drones that Russia launched at Kyiv were either destroyed by defence systems or neutralised by electronic warfare, Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv's military administration said on the Telegram messaging app.

French far-right leader goes on trial

The French far-right figurehead Marine Le Pen has gone on trial for embezzlement in Paris. She and 26 other National Rally party politicians deny misusing European Union funds. Ross Cullen reports.     According to the Associated Press, Le Pen denied violating any rules. The veteran politician told journalists that she remained confident. She vowed to present the judges with “extremely serious and extremely solid arguments.″
