Federal prosecutors have indicted New York Mayor Eric Adams for allegedly soliciting and accepting illegal campaign contributions, charging him with bribery and fraud. The unsealed indictment claims that foreign nationals with influence over Adams provided him with gifts and favorable treatment before seeking benefits they believed he owed them.   Police in New York City have raided the official residence of the mayor Eric Adams. It comes after he was indicted, following a year-long investigation into his staff and administration. It is the first time a sitting NYC mayor has been indicted. But New Yorkers say they're not surprised.

Prince William is heading to South Africa for the fourth edition of the Earthshot Prize ceremony in November in Cape Town. He launched this initiative in 2020 to search for the most innovative solutions to the world's greatest environmental challenges. Fifteen Earthshot Prize finalists have been announced, they include Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems, Amazon Sacred Headwaters Alliance, and Green Africa Youth Organisation.

Zelenskyy thanks Ramaphosa for support amid war

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy has thanked President Cyril Ramaphosa and South Africa for supporting his country's territorial integrity amid the war with Russia. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the United Nations Summit of the Future in New York. Zelenskyy has emphasized that only the unity of world leaders can force Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war.

Cost-of-living protests spark increased tensions in Martinique
