North Korea fires multiple ballistic missiles toward the sea ahead of US election

  North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea hours before the US presidential election, the South Korean military said. The launches came days after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a flight test of the country's newest intercontinental ballistic missile designed to reach the US mainland. Taiwan reports rise in Chinese military activity as US election nears

Taiwan's defence ministry said on Sunday it had spotted 35 Chinese military aircraft, including fighters and bombers, flying to the island's south on the way to exercises in the Pacific. It was the second day in a row it has reported such activities, and is taking place days before Tuesday's US presidential election. Laura Westbrook has more.
