TransNamib denies corruption claims over locomotive deal

TransNamib has dismissed corruption allegations related to a N$2 billion deal for new locomotives. The state-owned railway company’s CEO, Desmond van Jaarsveld says the procurement process was handled by the Central Procurement Board, thus ensuring transparency. The company’s spokesperson, Abigail Raubenheimer defended its decision to standardise with General Electric locomotives for improved efficiency.

TransNamib Names Desmond Ernst van Jaarsveld as New CEO

TransNamib has declared the selection of Desmond Ernst van Jaarsveld as its incoming Chief Executive Officer, commencing tomorrow April 17. Formerly holding the position of managing director at DP World, van Jaarsveld succeeds Webster Gonzo, who has served as the interim CEO since the past year.
