SA Government Says KwaZulu-Natal Outbreak Not Linked to School Virus

  S.A's Agriculture minister John Steenhuisen has reassured the public that the foot and mouth disease spreading in KwaZulu-Natal does not affect humans and is unrelated to the virus impacting schools. Speaking to the media, Steenhuisen confirmed that red meat remains safe to eat but stresses the urgency of controlling the outbreak, as it threatens South Africa’s export potential, particularly in Asian markets:

63.5-percent of households in South Africa are food insecure

A total of 63.5-percent of households in South Africa are food insecure, leaving 36.5-percent food secure. This is according to the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development’s National Food and Nutrition Security Survey conducted between 2021 and 2023. DA Supports Temporary Ban on Movement of Cloven-Hooved Animals in Western Cape

In S.A, the DA in the Western Cape says it supports the provincial government’s request to Agriculture minister, John Steenhuisen, for a temporary ban on the movement of cloven-hooved animals, such as sheep, pigs, and cattle.
