AU Summit Fails to Address African Conflict Zones Says Analyst

South African Political analyst Kenneth Mokgathle has criticized the recent African Union summit for failing to propose concrete solutions or interventions for conflict-affected nations. He highlighted ongoing crises in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where M23 rebels have seized Goma and Bukavu, leading to significant casualties, and in Sudan, where violence continues to claim lives and displace millions.

18 Civilians killed in DRC violence

At least 18 civilians have been killed by armed bandits in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo since the start of October. A civil society organization that has been documenting the deaths has condemned the frequent killings of unarmed people in the territory of Nyiragongo. Chris Ocamringa reports from Kinshasa.

Haiti’s humanitarian gang violence displaces children

Escalating armed violence in Haiti has triggered a humanitarian crisis, the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, warned on Wednesday. At least 170,000 children are now displaced - double the number from last year – amid an increase in gang-led killings and kidnappings, sexual violence, and a severe food crisis.
