NamRA Warns Importers Over Unpaid VAT

The Namibia Revenue Agency has cautioned that importers who fail to settle outstanding deferred VAT balances may have their accounts suspended. NamRA’s Tonateni Shidhudhu, manager of strategic communications and stakeholder engagements, said affected importers must pay VAT upfront at customs and clear any arrears to avoid disruptions.

NamRa extends deadline for tax certificates to April 2025

The Namibia Revenue Agency has extended the transitional arrangements for obtaining Tax Certificates of Good Standing. This means businesses will have more time to comply with the recently revised guidelines. Originally scheduled to come into effect on 1 June 2024 the new guidelines will now be implemented on 1 April 2025. BIPA urged to extend waiver program deadline

Registered business owners are requesting an extension on the Business and Intellectual Property Authority's Annual Duty Penalty Waiver Program, citing long queues observed at both the Grove and Maerua Mall. Registered business owners are required to pay an annual fee of N$120; however, failure to pay results in penalties. BIPA’s Executive of Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Client Management Services, Ockert Jansen, comments on the issue.
