Japan investigates intrusion into Chinese waters

Japan is investigating how one of its destroyers intruded into Chinese waters. The Maritime Self Defense Force vessel Suzutsuki was monitoring war drills when it entered Chinese territory without permission last week. Chris Gilbert reports

Hungary Prime Minister arrives in Beijing

Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban arrived in Beijing on Monday for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This is Orban's third surprise overseas trip since Hungary took over the European Union's rotating presidency at the beginning of July, after he travelled to Ukraine and Russia last week on what he called a "peace mission". Xi Jinping holds talks with Vladimir Putin on sidelines of summit in Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping met Wednesday in Astana. The expected admission of Belarus to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization at its annual leaders' summit is another push by Beijing and Moscow to transform the grouping into a geopolitical counterweight to the influence of the United States and its allies. Hong Kong marks 27 years since the former British colony was returned to Chinese rule. The city's leader John Lee said the enactment of the domestic security law was a major achievement and the city was going from strength to strength despite the US and Western countries "bullying" the city's development. Taiwan warns against travel to China after execution threat

Taiwan has issued its second-highest travel warning for mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. Taiwan told its citizens not to go to China unless absolutely necessary, following a threat from Beijing last week to execute those deemed "diehard" Taiwan independence supporters. China’s moon probe returns with far side samples

China has become the first country to successfully bring back samples from the far side of the Moon, where missions are more complex because of its mountainous terrain. SkyNews reports China's lunar probe has returned to Earth, touching down in the northern Chinese region of Inner Mongolia. The re-entry capsule of the Chang'e probe landed at about 7 am South African time and carried lunar soil collected earlier in the month.
