Militia Attacks in Eastern Congo Leave 23 Dead

A militia has killed at least 23 people in recent attacks on several villages in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo's Ituri province, local authorities reported on Saturday. The Cooperative for the Development of the Congo, one of the numerous armed groups operating in the conflict-ridden east, perpetrated the killings in Djugu territory on Thursday and Friday, according to two local community leaders who spoke to Reuters.
