U.S Supreme Court rejects Trump administration request to freeze foreign aid

The US Supreme Court has rejected an emergency request by the Trump administration to freeze nearly 2 billion dollars in foreign aid. The order requires the government to release the funds to aid groups for work already completed. Ira Spitzer reports.

S.A’s Constitutional Court Reserves Judgment in DA Abroad’s Citizenship Challenge

The Constitutional Court has reserved judgment in DA Abroad’s citizenship court case. The petition is challenging the South African Citizenship Act, which mandates the loss of citizenship for South Africans after acquiring another nationality without permission. The Supreme Court of Appeal had previously ruled in favour, while the Constitutional Court was meant to ratify this. Zambia’s President suspends three Constitutional Court Judges

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema suspended three Constitutional Court judges immediately, his office announced Monday, without providing the reasons. According to the Zambian Observer, the decision follows recommendations from a report submitted by the Judicial Complaints Commission. The three judges were appointed by Hichilema’s predecessor Edgar Lungu in 2016.

Pretoria Court rejects DA bid against ANC deployment policy

The Pretoria High Court has dismissed with costs the Democratic Alliance's application to declare the ANC's cadre deployment policy unconstitutional. DA leader John Steenhuisen says the court erred in its judgement.
