S.A’s Constitutional Court Reserves Judgment in DA Abroad’s Citizenship Challenge

  The Constitutional Court has reserved judgment in DA Abroad’s citizenship court case. The petition is challenging the South African Citizenship Act, which mandates the loss of citizenship for South Africans after acquiring another nationality without permission. The Supreme Court of Appeal had previously ruled in favour, while the Constitutional Court was meant to ratify this. The DA’s Ludré Stevens says they advocate for an automatic citizenship restoration:

Zambia’s President suspends three Constitutional Court Judges

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema suspended three Constitutional Court judges immediately, his office announced Monday, without providing the reasons. According to the Zambian Observer, the decision follows recommendations from a report submitted by the Judicial Complaints Commission. The three judges were appointed by Hichilema’s predecessor Edgar Lungu in 2016.
