Namibia Statistics Agency releases Vital Statistics Report

The Namibia Statistics Agency has released (24 April 2024) the Vital Statistics Report on births, marriages, and deaths 2018-2021. This comes as the country adopted the resolution from the 8th Conference of the African Ministers responsible for Civil registration in 2014 to produce regular statistical reports based on the civil registration data regardless of the level of completeness. NSA spokesperson Mirjam Shihepo.

Namibia’s leading causes of death revealed

The Namibia Statistics Agency has revealed that between 2018 and 2021, the country’s death toll rose from 18,939 to 24,117, and in 2020, hypertensive diseases were cited as the primary cause of death, while COVID-19 took the lead in 2021, followed by HIV and lower respiratory infections.
