UN Considers Resolution Urging Ceasefire and Aid Access in Sudan

Conflict broke out in April 2023, stemming from a power struggle between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, leading to a severe displacement crisis worldwide.

RSF Rampage in Sudan’s Gezira State Leaves Over 120 Dead

  Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces launched violent attacks in Gezira state, south of Khartoum, killing at least 120 civilians and injuring many others, according to the UN and media reports as seen by Deutsche Welle. Additional sources suggest the casualty count may be even higher. The UN’s Office of Civilian Aid reported that over 47,000 people were displaced in the recent violence.

The International Organization for Migration reported Tuesday that more than 14 million people have been displaced due to the crisis in Sudan, with 11 million internally displaced and 3.1 million having fled across borders. Reuters says, IOM's Director-General Amy Pope highlighted a recent surge, with 200,000 additional people fleeing since last month.
