Daniel Chapo Sworn in as Mozambique’s President Amid Protests and Violence

  Daniel Chapo of Mozambique’s Frelimo party was sworn in as president on Wednesday following months of protests over his controversial election victory Reuters says. A local civil society group reported that over 300 people have been killed in clashes with security forces since the October 9 vote, which the opposition claims was marred by vote-rigging, and Western observers deemed not free and fair.

  Elon Musk is being sued for his lottery-style stunt, after he started giving away a million dollars per day to one lucky voter. Philadelphia's District Attorney is taking legal action against the tech billionaire and his political action committee, with the US Justice Department warning the scheme might violate federal law. UN urges peaceful response amid Venezuela election controversy

The United Nations says it is extremely concerned about widespread protests and arrests in Venezuela. Protests erupted as anger grew over the awarding of Sunday's election to President Nicolas Maduro despite claims by the opposition that it had won. On Monday, the election board declared that Maduro had won a third term with 51% of votes.
