A five per cent increase in road accidents and two per cent increase in road-related injuries were recorded between 07 November 2023 and 01 January 2024, Namibian Police Force Inspector-General, Lieutenant-General Joseph Shikongo, has said. Shikongo was speaking at the Oshiko roadblock in Ongwediva on Thursday, comparing road crash statistics for 2023/24 with that of the same period in 2022/23.
