Emmanuel Macron has called a snap election in France in response to a victory for the right in European polls. Marine Le Pen's National Rally party is on course to win around a third of the vote in European Parliament elections. President Macron's dissolved Parliament and called national elections for 30th June and 7th July, as Ross Cullen reports from Paris.

Western Cape MEC of Community Safety and Police Oversight, Reagen Allen, has condemned the killing of four people including three children in Khayelitsha. An unknown gunman entered a barber shop on Saturday and opened fire on the occupants of the premises. The main hospital in Sudan's al-Fashir city has been attacked by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and rendered inoperative, according to Doctors Without Borders, which supports the facility. Al-Fashir, located in the Darfur region of northwestern Sudan, is home to over 1.8 million residents and displaced people. This attack marks the latest escalation in the conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April last year.
