Namibia Statistics Agency's statistician general Alex Shimuafeni has refuted claims of government interference in the delay of unemployment statistics reports indicate. This after releasing the 2023 census data without employment figures, the NSA received a letter of demand from the Economic Policy Research Association calling for the data within 10 days. Shimuafeni emphasized the NSA’s commitment to impartiality, stating that data is released simultaneously to all stakeholders without prior consultation.
