President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has expressed his approval of Resolution 2728 adopted by the United Nations Security Council. The resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan. Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson for President Ramaphosa, described the resolution as a crucial development towards establishing a solid groundwork for a permanent ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations in the region.

UN Security Council Resolution on Gaza Welcomed by South Africa’s Minister

South Africa's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, has praised the recent UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan. The resolution also urges the release of hostages and increased aid flow. While fourteen members voted in favor, the US abstained. Pandor reiterated South Africa's longstanding support for a Gaza ceasefire.
