US President Joe Biden says he's hopeful that the current pause in hostilities between Israel and Hamas could be extended. The President spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday after Hamas released another 17 hostages in exchange for 39 Palestinians detained by the Israelis. Our US Correspondent Simon Marks reports.
Hamas released 17 hostages on Sunday, including a four-year-old American girl. It was the third daily release of hostages, with the fourth and final set of prisoners expected to be set free on Monday. Israel in turn released 39 Palestinians. However, as Mia Alberti in Lebanon reports the pause in fighting could be extended beyond the current four-day agreement.
A four-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas will begin on Friday morning, that's according to Qatar - which has been mediating the truce. Toni Waterman has the details.
UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron is in Israel, where earlier on Thursday he visited a town where 100 were murdered by Hamas fighters on 7 October. The UK has been pushing for humanitarian pauses in Gaza, and its military has been providing intelligence to the IDF, as well as political support for its operation against Hamas.
