Donald Trump says he wants to “clean out” Gaza

  Donald Trump is facing backlash for comments proposing Israel's neighbours should take in Palestinians so he can "clear out" Gaza. The US president called on Jordan and Egypt to allow Palestinians from the strip to enter their countries after a 15-month war between Israel and Hamas. Israel and Hamas have reached a ceasefire agreement, mediated by Qatar, ending 15 months of conflict in Gaza. The deal allows displaced Palestinians to return home and secures the release of hostages taken during Hamas's October 7 attacks. The ceasefire is seen as a diplomatic success for outgoing US President Joseph Biden, while incoming President Donald Trump claims his election win expedited the agreement.
