Health Executive Director gives update on Mpox testing capacity

Following the announcement by the Ministry of Health and Social Services that, as of 26 August 2024, public and private health facilities have collectively tested 18 patients for Mpox, with 15 cases testing negative and three still awaiting results, we asked Executive Director Ben Nangombe whether Namibia has the infrastructure and capacity to test for the disease and how long it takes to receive the results.

Government launches investigation into death at Katutura clinic

Following the death of a man while waiting for medical assistance at the Katutura Health Centre in Windhoek on Monday night, we asked the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, if the government has initiated investigations into the matter. Namibia recordsnew Covid-19 cases, country doesn’t have vaccines

The Ministry of Health and Social Services has announced that as of 20 February 2024, there are 28 active cases and 3 hospitalisations. No deaths due to Covid-19 were recorded, while Rehoboth has had a localised increase in Covid-19 cases. With the WHO having announced that Namibia has no COVID-19 vaccines in stock, we contacted Health Executive Director Ben Nangombe.
