US says it has no independent confirmation of Ismail Haniyeh death

The United States told a UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday that it has no independent confirmation as to Hamas's claims regarding Ismail Haniyeh death. An emergency session of the council was added to the schedule following the killing of Haniyeh in Iran as fears are mounting of possible regional escalation.
