AHIF holds talks on powering investment into hospitality

The Africa Hospitality and Investment Forum is currently underway in Windhoek. The event brings together the who's who of the hotel investment community that drives investment into tourism projects, infrastructure, and hotel development. We spoke to Gitta Paetzold, CEO of the Hospitality Association of Namibia after she participated in a panel discussion on Powering Investments into Namibian Hospitality   Today’s agenda also featured government initiatives to support the hospitality industry.

Tourism Sector Poised for Continued Growth in 2024

  The tourism sector is showing promising signs of growth, with international arrivals at nationwide airports reaching 71,584 passengers from January to February 2024. This marks an increase from the 57,921 passengers recorded during the same period in 2023. Gitta Paetzold, CEO of the Hospitality Association of Namibia, provides insight into the positive trajectory of tourist inflows, indicating ongoing potential for expansion in the tourism industry.

Namibia implements visas on arrival

Travelers to Namibia via the Katima Mulilo, Ngoma, and Impalila border posts in the Zambezi Region can now obtain visas upon arrival. Some countries without diplomatic representation in Namibia no longer require prior visa applications for entry or transit. The Ministry of Home Affairs advocates electronic transfers for visa payments to enhance financial transaction management instead of cash payments.
