India brushes aside concerns about US sanctions after inking Iran port deal

India's foreign minister has brushed aside concerns about potential sanctions from the U.S after inking a 10 year deal to maintain a crucial port in Iran. On Tuesday, the US state department had said the US continues to enforce sanctions on Tehran and any country considering business deals with it should consider the potential risks. India confirms withdrawal of its military personnel from Maldives

India has confirmed that all security troops stationed in Maldives have left and have been replaced by civilian personnel. AstraZeneca vaccine withdrawn globally over side effect

AstraZeneca has admitted in court documents that its Covid-19 vaccine, developed in collaboration with Oxford University and manufactured as Covishield in India, can cause a rare and dangerous side effect known as Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome.  Pharmaceutical giant on Wednesday further announced the global withdrawal of its vaccine. The Serum Institute and the Indian government are yet to make a comment on the development.

India expresses “deep concern” over Sikh separatist slogans at event in Canada

India has summoned Canada's Deputy High Commissioner to express "deep concern and strong protest" after separatist slogans were raised at an event addressed by Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. Diplomatic relations between the two countries after Trudeau last year said there were "credible allegations" potentially linking India to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia. Rebecca Bundhun reports from Mumbai.
