Airlines’ Profit Projections Improve for 2024

The International Air Transport Association has upgraded its profitability forecasts for airlines in 2024, surpassing its June and December 2023 projections. Despite this positive outlook, the global airline industry still struggles to achieve returns above the cost of capital. Net profits are expected to rise to $30.5 billion in 2024. International Air Transport Association Reports Strong Start for Global Passenger Demand in January 2024

The International Air Transport Association has unveiled data for the January 2024 global passenger demand, signaling a robust beginning for the year. Total demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers, surged by 16.6%. International demand experienced a notable increase of 20.8%, while domestic demand saw a solid rise of 10.4%.
