Jerry Ekandjo Advocates for Gender-Specific Swapo Presidency, Calls for VP Nandi-Ndaitwah’s Resignation

Former Cabinet minister Jerry Ekandjo has expressed his belief that the position of Swapo party president at the upcoming extraordinary congress should be exclusively reserved for men to achieve gender balance. Furthermore, Ekandjo called for the resignation of Vice President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah if she intends to challenge for the party presidency. Political Analyst Ndumba Kamwanya gave his opinion on this matter.

President Mbumba declares national mourning period

President Nangolo Mbumba has officially declared a national mourning period starting from 5 February 2023 until the date of the late President Hage Geingob's funeral. The Namibia Press Agency reports that all national flags should be flown at half-mast throughout this period, across the country, and at all Namibian diplomatic missions. The date of the burial is yet to be announced.
