Interview: LPM’s Lifalaza Simataa Criticizes SEOM Report’s Impact

The Landless People's Movement (LPM) has raised concerns about the effectiveness and impact of observer mission reports, particularly those conducted by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Electoral Observation Mission (SEOM). According to LPM’s Lifalaza Simataa, such reports often lack enforcement mechanisms and fail to hold electoral bodies accountable for discrepancies in elections. LPM Fires Back at Shaningwa, Calls Her a “Drama Queen”

The Landless People’s Movement has responded sharply to Swapo Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa’s criticism of their court application, dismissing it as a "wild fishing expedition." In a replying affidavit, Shaningwa downplayed LPM’s claims that last year’s elections were fraudulent, stating there was no evidence to support the allegations. LPM's Skrywer dismissed Shaningwa, calling her a "wannabe relevant drama queen," and argued she shouldn’t be taken seriously.

ECN Rejects IPC Court Bid as Lacking Evidence

The Electoral Commission has dismissed the Independent Patriots for Change's court application, calling it "vague and embarrassing." ECN chairperson Elsie Nghikembua argues the case lacks the evidence required to overturn an election under section 115 of the Electoral Act. Meanwhile, the IPC seeks to nullify the entire elections, with LPM pushing to validate only votes from 27 November. Offering comment is Graham Hopwood: he is the Executive Director at […]
