Support Ulm e.V., a German non-profit organization, has contributed medical equipment worth N$2 million to the Department of Orthopaedics at Katutura Intermediate State Hospital in Windhoek. Sudanese volunteer rescuers reported that shelling in Omdurman, Khartoum's twin city across the Nile, has left over 120 people dead. Reports say medical supplies are critically scarce as health workers face overwhelming numbers of injured individuals. The fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has intensified in recent weeks, following more than 20 months of conflict in Sudan.
The World Health Organisation says the health system in Gaza is on the brink of collapse. According to a WHO health emergency officer, the organisation needs more aid and medical supplies to assist with the unfolding "catastrophe". Jody Jacobs reports from the United Nations in New York.
