Commissioner Michael Masiapato said they plan to combat cross-border crime and illegal immigration while warning about potential gender-based violence at borders. Masiapato says Home Affairs has also extended operating hours at select ports to ease congestion.

S.A’s Border Management Authority Halts 281,000 Illegal Entries During Easter

The Commissioner of the S.A Border Management Authority, Michael Masiapato, reports that during the Easter period, their operations intercepted and prevented over 281,000 individuals from illegally entering South Africa through its 71 ports of entry. Masiapato highlights a decline in the use of conveyancers transporting illegal migrants, while also mentioning the issuance of eight penalties totaling 270,000 rand to bus companies caught ferrying illegal migrants.
