South Africa Celebrates Achievements at 12th World Urban Forum

South Africa's Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi concluded her Egypt visit, celebrating South Africa’s achievements at the 12th World Urban Forum. Kubayi said that South Africa also initiated a SADC ministers’ meeting to accelerate informal settlement upgrades, sharing insights and solutions for sustainable cities globally. In addition, she led discussions on sustainable urbanisation and secured agreements to establish a UN-Habitat office in South Africa:

SA to Digitise Housing Records, Tackle Performance and Corruption in Housing Sector

  South Africa's Human Settlements minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has confirmed plans to digitise housing beneficiary records and announced a review of housing delivery performance. In an SABC interview, she expressed concern over metro and municipal performance and emphasised the importance of the Housing Consumer Protection Bill in ensuring quality construction. Kubayi also urged the prosecution of corrupt officials to maintain credibility in the sector:
