Civil Aviation Authority Posts Strong Financial Turnaround

The Namibia Civil Aviation Authority reported a significant financial recovery for the 2024/2025 year, cutting its operational loss to N$1 million and recording a profit of N$52 million. The Authority received an unqualified audit opinion, reflecting strong governance and financial discipline. Nelson Ahipala serves as the spokesperson for the NCAA.

Namibia makes progress on FATF Grey List

The Financial Intelligence Centre says Namibia is on track to exit the FATF grey list by May 2026, after addressing most of the weaknesses in its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing systems. President relieves Minister of his duties

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has relieved Natangwe Ithete of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, with immediate effect. In the interest of continuity, the President will temporarily assume responsibility for the ministry. The Presidency thanked Ithete for his service, confirming that he will remain a Member of Parliament, and reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and accountability.

Rising Number of Angolan Children Prompts Action

Authorities are intensifying efforts to manage the growing presence of Angolan children on Windhoek streets and in urban areas. Willem Snyman reports that Rauna Nyrokor of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, noted that although earlier operations repatriated 73 children and their mothers safely, comparable numbers continue to return, highlighting an ongoing issue.
