Rising Number of Angolan Children Prompts Action

Authorities are intensifying efforts to manage the growing presence of Angolan children on Windhoek streets and in urban areas. Willem Snyman reports that Rauna Nyrokor of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, noted that although earlier operations repatriated 73 children and their mothers safely, comparable numbers continue to return, highlighting an ongoing issue.

Windhoek City Police sergeant Kavekotoka Humavindu says 91 pirate taxis have been impounded since March. According to our correspondent Josia Shigwedha, Humavindu urged commuters to verify taxis before boarding amid a surge in robberies involving unregistered operators.

Thousands Paid as NamPost Begins New Social Grant Cycle

NamPost has successfully registered and paid more than 20 percent of social grant beneficiaries in the first three days of the new payout period. Over 5,000 people have already received their payments, and all mobile units are now in operation. Spokesperson Gladwin Groenwaldt advised beneficiaries to adhere to the payout schedule and said NamPost remains committed to serving everyone efficiently.

Petrofund and Baker Hughes have Partnered to Strengthen Energy Skills Development

Petrofund and Baker Hughes have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at developing local Field Service Engineers in the  energy sector. The agreement was signed in Windhoek during a session with energy and petroleum stakeholders hosted by the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board. Petrofund Chief Executive Officer Niillian Mulemi spoke about the collaboration with our Angie Scholtz.
