LPM Rejects Oil and Gas Bill Amendments

Landless People’s Movement leader Bernadus Swartbooi says the party opposes proposed amendments to the Exploration and Production Amendment Bill that would place the upstream oil and gas sector under presidential control, reports Namibia Business Review. Critics argue the move would weaken parliamentary oversight and reduce the authority of the Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy. Swartbooi instead called for stronger action against alleged corruption within the ministry and state-owned petroleum company Namcor.

Members of former refugees repatriated in 1989 have refused to leave the SWAPO party’s premises by 10am this past Tuesday deadline. IPC MP Questions Presidential Authority Over Parliamentary Leave

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Monday met with the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy's staff team. President relieves Minister of his duties

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has relieved Natangwe Ithete of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, with immediate effect. In the interest of continuity, the President will temporarily assume responsibility for the ministry. The Presidency thanked Ithete for his service, confirming that he will remain a Member of Parliament, and reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and accountability.
