Cabinet approves new national airline

The Cabinet has approved the name of Namibia’s new national airline, Namibia Air (Pty) Ltd, with the government as the sole shareholder. Works Minister Veikko Nekundi said the airline is expected to launch in the next financial year. A technical committee of local aviation experts will guide the establishment and operations of the carrier.

Works and Transport Minister Veikko Nekundi has confirmed that Cabinet has approved the name of the new national carrier, Namibia Air (Pty) Ltd, which will be fully owned by the government. In this report for NewsOnOne by Selma Taapopi, Nekundi said the airline’s establishment—initiated under the directive of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah—is expected to commence in the next financial year.
