National Road Safety Council Sounds Alarm on Road Safety Crisis

The National Road Safety Council has raised the alarm over increasing road deaths, with 414 recorded this year. The latest accident in Oshikoto resulted in nine deaths and fifteen injuries, following an August crash that killed fifteen, including a pregnant woman. Over Seven-thousand arrested on South African roads over the festive period

  Seven-thousand-448 people were arrested on South African roads over the festive period for various offences including drunken driving, speeding, and attempted bribery. The Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesperson Simon Zwane says so far, more than 1.1-million vehicles were stopped and checked as part of the festive season enforcement plan aimed at promoting safety on national roads.
