S.A's Al Jama-ah's leader, Ganief Hendricks, has warned the ANC against forming a government of national unity, cautioning it could lead to a return of white rule. Hendricks has emphasised that the government of national unity would undermine black economic control and reparations. He raised concerns stating that this would risk a regression to apartheid-era inequalities and delaying true freedom:

President Mbumba declares national mourning period

President Nangolo Mbumba has officially declared a national mourning period starting from 5 February 2023 until the date of the late President Hage Geingob's funeral. The Namibia Press Agency reports that all national flags should be flown at half-mast throughout this period, across the country, and at all Namibian diplomatic missions. The date of the burial is yet to be announced.
