Johannes !Hoaeb, 39, from Ombili informal settlement in Otjiwarongo, died from injuries after his shack burned down on Monday morning. !Hoaeb, who appeared intoxicated, had asked his mother for matches before the fire broke out. Despite efforts by his mother and neighbors to save him, he suffered severe burns and died while being transferred to a hospital. Police are investigating the incident.
In Otjiwarongo, a 40-year-old woman was arrested yesterday for allegedly stabbing her 38-year-old boyfriend in the Ombili informal settlement following an argument. According to Namibian Police Force Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Edna Nawa, the victim survived the stabbing and was admitted to Otjiwarongo State Hospital in critical condition.
