Man Dies After Shack Fire in Ombili Informal Settlement

Johannes !Hoaeb, 39, from Ombili informal settlement in Otjiwarongo, died from injuries after his shack burned down on Monday morning. !Hoaeb, who appeared intoxicated, had asked his mother for matches before the fire broke out. Despite efforts by his mother and neighbors to save him, he suffered severe burns and died while being transferred to a hospital. Police are investigating the incident.

Namasiku Nalisa, the Public Relations Manager for B2Gold Mine Namibia, revealed that the voluntary retrenchment process at Otjikoto B2Gold Mine near Otjiwarongo, initiated in March last year, is anticipated to continue throughout 2024.
