IPC Slams Cancellation of Councillor Swearing-In

Josia Shigwedha for NewsOne journalled that IPC spokesperson Immanuel Nashinge has condemned the nationwide cancellation of the swearing-in for newly elected regional and local councillors, describing it as a “legal quagmire.” He emphasized that the law mandates councillors be sworn in within seven days of election results and questioned how the government intends to resolve the issue.

IPC MP Questions Early Parliamentary Recess

IPC Member of Parliament John-Louw Mouton has expressed concern over the early end to Parliament’s session, which is scheduled to run until 27 November. Mouton criticised the procedure used to approve the recess, saying the Speaker bypassed Rule 10, which requires a 75% majority vote in the House.
