Former President of Congo, Joseph Kabila, has begun discussions with opposition leaders regarding the country’s political future, as Rwanda-backed rebels continue to capture territory in the east, according to five sources speaking to Reuters. The talks, which also include civil society members, could pose a further challenge to President Felix Tshisekedi, who has faced criticism for his handling of the M23 rebels' rapid advance.
ANC Youth League president Collen Malatji has revealed he has been in contact with former EFF member of parliament, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, following his resignation from Parliament. Ndlozi remains an ordinary member of the Orange Farm EFF branch. Speaking at the Progressive Business Forum Presidential Golf Day in Cape Town, Malatji did not disclose details of their discussions:
The West African regional bloc, Ecowas, has sent a diplomatic mission to Senegal to discuss the postponement of its presidential elections. According to the BBC, the delegation will meet local officials and politicians. Senegal's President Macky Sall decided to push back the polls earlier this month. The opposition described the move as a constitutional coup.
