Special Investigating Unit in S.A To Investigate AfriForum’s NSFAS Corruption Complaint

The Special Investigating Unit in S.A is set to probe AfriForum’s corruption complaint against the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, involving minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, and former scheme board chairperson, Ernest Khosa. This follows a formal complaint lodged with the Public Protector in January. AfriForum’s Campaign Officer, Charné Mostert, calls the transfer to the SIU a positive step towards justice:

ActionSA implores Parliament to appoint a qualified and competent Deputy Public Protector

ActionSA is calling on Parliament’s Justice and Correctional Services committee to not put forward narrow party-political interests as it finds a suitable candidate for the vacant position of Deputy Public Protector. SA’s former Public Protector wants her pension and benefits

South Africa’s former Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane says she is awaiting communication from parliament over her loss of benefits after being fired. Mkhwebane told Newzroom Africa that she would approach the courts if those engagements fail. She is taking Parliament and her former office – the Public Protector of SA – to court for having forfeited her gratuity payment, believed to be R10 million.
