GOP clinches U.S House of Reps

  US President-elect Donald Trump will command a trifecta of power in Washington after the Republicans secured a clean sweep of Congress. Having won last week's election handedly, his party also flipped the Senate and — it was confirmed on Wednesday — narrowly held the House of Representatives, giving them control of the White House and both chambers of the legislature. Democrat Tom Suozzi has won a special election to replace disgraced US lawmaker George Santos in New York. The Republican Representative was expelled from Congress in December after being charged with fraud, money laundering, and lying to lawmakers.
