SA Police Issue Indemnity Forms to Volunteers in Hazardous Stilfontein Mine Rescue Operation

  S.A's Police have given indemnity forms to community volunteers helping with the Stilfontein mine rescue in North West. The police warned against sending officials into the abandoned mine due to dangers, including toxic gases and the risk of armed miners. In a media briefing, police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed an investigation is underway following the recovery of the decomposed body of an illegal miner:

Typhoon Gaemi sinks Tanzanian cargo ship

A Tanzanian-flagged cargo ship with nine Myanmar nationals on board has sunk off the southern port city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan as a result of Typhoon Gaemi. The death toll in George building collapse has risen

Rescue teams in South Africa are searching for survivors after a five-story building under construction collapsed on Monday, killing six people and leaving at least 50 trapped. Officials in the city of George, Western Cape province, say 24 people have been pulled from the wreckage and taken to hospital.
