Ten Bodies Recovered After Fuel Tanker Explosion in Kampala

A fuel tanker explosion in Kampala, Uganda, resulted in the recovery of ten bodies, according to a Reuters witness. The tanker overturned around 3:00 PM local time in the Kigoogwa suburb, located on the northern outskirts of the city along the road connecting Kampala to Gulu. Police confirmed that several individuals may have lost their lives, and others sustained injuries in the incident.

MVA Fund records youth account for 55% of road accident injuries

The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund has revealed that young people aged 18 to 35 were disproportionately affected by motor vehicle accidents, constituting 55% of total injuries recorded during the first nine months of 2024. Minister of Works and Transport, John Mutorwa, has announced that the number of traffic fatalities decreased by 30% between 2019 and 2023.
