Rwanda’s Marburg Virus Outbreak Eases After Vaccinations With Mpox Still Spreading

Rwanda’s Marburg virus outbreak is showing signs of improvement following the vaccination of high-risk groups, including healthcare workers as per Reuters. However, Mpox cases continue to spread to new African countries, according to Rwanda's health minister and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. In early October, Rwanda initiated vaccinations to curb the Ebola-like Marburg virus outbreak in the country.

DRC and Rwanda to implement M23 ceasefire plan

The Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda have agreed to implement activities aimed at ending an armed conflict led by the M23 rebels in the east of the DRC. The foreign ministers of both countries met in the Angolan capital of Luanda and agreed to end the conflict which started in 2021. Chris Ocamringa has more from Kinshasa.

Rwanda has begun administering vaccines to combat the Marburg virus outbreak, which has claimed 12 lives in the country. Health Minister Sabin Nsanzimana announced on Sunday that vaccinations would focus on high-risk groups, including healthcare workers in treatment centers and close contacts of confirmed cases indicates CNBCAfrica. Rwanda has received vaccine shipments, including doses from the Sabin Vaccine Institute, and began the rollout immediately.
