Eskom assures consumers that the fire at the Kriel power station in Mpumalanga will not impact power supply

Eskom has assured that the fire at the Kriel power station in Mpumalanga will not impact power supply. This follows after Unit 6 tripped due to the loss of hydraulic oil to the turbine valves. The fire was quickly extinguished by the station’s emergency team. No injuries occurred, and other units remain fully operational. Eskom's Daphne Mokwena highlighted that the current reserves are adequate to meet demand:
