Government officials are gathered to receive the body of founding president Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna Nujoma set to arrive this morning for departure to the regions as the nation gears up to pay respects. Our correspondent on the ground is Emvaalde Matheus reporting for One Africa's NewsOneOne
The government has allocated N$500,000 to each region for commemorative memorial services honoring the late President Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna Nujoma. According to the Office of the Prime Minister, regional governors will oversee the ceremonies and ensure compliance with the Public Procurement Act. While there were hopes of transporting Nujoma’s remains nationwide, the government confirmed that a State Memorial Service will be held at his birthplace, Etunda in Omusati Region.
One of the supervisors of Founding President Samuel Daniel Shafiishuna Nujoma’s Geology master’s thesis described him as a dedicated student. In an interview with Selma Taapopi from One Africa’s NewsOnOne, Dr. Gabi Schneider says she co-supervised Nujoma's thesis, titled Copper: Its Geology and Economic Impact on Development in Namibia, Zambia, and DRC.
