South Korea’s Yoon given until Saturday to appear for questioning

South Korean prosecutors on Tuesday told impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol that he has until Saturday to appear for questioning over his failed martial law bid or face possible arrest, according to Yonhap news agency. Yoon, suspended from office by parliament last Saturday, is being investigated over alleged insurrection. Laura Westbrook has more.

South Koreans face danger if Yoon stays says ruling party chief

South Korea's ruling party chief demanded Friday that President Yoon Suk Yeol be removed from office, warning there was a "significant risk" he could try to subvert civilian rule again. Yoon imposed martial law on Tuesday citing threats from "anti-state forces" and North Korea, before reversing it six hours later after parliament, including some members of his party, voted to oppose the decree. North Korea fires multiple ballistic missiles toward the sea ahead of US election

  North Korea on Tuesday fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles toward its eastern sea hours before the US presidential election, the South Korean military said. The launches came days after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised a flight test of the country's newest intercontinental ballistic missile designed to reach the US mainland.
