India’s opposition calls for resignation of railway minister

In New Delhi - calls are growing for the resignation of India's railway minister - a day after 18 people were killed in a stampede at an overcrowded railway station in the capital city. The youngest victim was seven years old and the oldest 79. A probe is underway but the opposition claims the government is suppressing details of the tragedy, as Sreoshi Mukherjee reports.

Several feared dead and scores injured at Kumbh Mela in India

  Several people are feared dead and at least 30 injured after a crowd rush at the Kumbh Mela. The Hindu gathering is touted to be the biggest in the world ever, with close to 100 million estimatedly attending the event this week. Stampede at Religious Event in Ibadan Leaves Multiple Dead

  A stampede during a religious event in Ibadan, Oyo state, has resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to Governor Seyi Makinde. The incident took place at an Islamic high school where a large crowd had assembled for a family gathering. While investigations are underway, Makinde confirmed that the primary organisers of the event have been detained, as reported by Reuters.
