Walvis Bay emerges as alternative amid South African port congestion

Some 46 000 containers are stuck on vessels outside two Eastern Cape ports, while almost 62 000 are outside the congested Durban harbour. According to News24, businesses in the Eastern Cape are redirecting their goods to Walvis Bay and Maputo to navigate the problem. Port officials in South Africa say it will take until 2024 and possibly even February to clear the current congestion that has built up.
