Guterres appeals for a pause in fighting in Gaza so that children can be vaccinated against polio

The United Nations Secretary General has added his voice calling for a pause in hostilities in Gaza so that polio vaccines can be distributed. Speaking in New York on Friday, Antonio Guterres called for warring parties to lay down their arms so that humanitarians can safely vaccinate more than half a million children against polio. UN threatens to halt aid deliveries in Gaza

The United Nations to protect humanitarian workers in Gaza. Speaking at the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Tor Wennesland, the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process said indiscriminate attacks on convoys are impeding the delivery of aid. It's now emerged that senior U.N. officials told Israel they will suspend aid operations unless urgent steps are taken to better protect humanitarian workers. As our Jody Jacobs reports.

UN Security Council Demands Halt to Siege in Al-Fashir In Sudan

The United Nations Security Council, as reported by Reuters, has demanded an immediate cessation of the siege on al-Fashir, a city in Sudan's North Darfur region home to 1.8 million people. Adopting a resolution drafted by Britain, the Council also calls for the withdrawal of paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and other fighters posing threats to civilian safety. Al-Fashir is the largest city in western Darfur not yet under RSF control.
